Which Airline Companies Allow You to Change Your Flight for Free (or Almost)

On any given day, airlines will inevitably cancel flights due to unforeseen circumstances: adverse weather, mechanical issues and safety concerns, to name a few. Throw in a worldwide pandemic with staffing issues, border closures and restrictions, and chances are you might receive a cancellation notice to your phone. 👎🏼

Flight cancellations are usually out of your control, resulting in a flight credit or the option to get on the next flight. But what happens if you, the passenger, request the cancellation or flight change? Well, there’s going to be a fee for that.

Do yourself a favour if you’re on a budget and DON’T book with the major Canadian airlines right now. Their fees are astronomical ($100+!) Instead, try lesser-known companies like Flair Airlines, where a last-minute flight change will only cost you half as much!

I love take-offs and I'm a fan of any destination near water or the mountains. My favourite trips have been road trips: inhaling fresh air through the Canadian Rockies and sipping tea along the grassy switchback alps of Switzerland on route to fairy tale castles in Germany. I'm not a light packer, but I'm slowly working on my technique. Right now I live out my travel dreams vicariously through writing about them.
