The COVID-19 pandemic has made us all think more about our travel choices. Before contact tracing and lockdowns, our concerns were limited to our own personal safety. It was our well-being at stake if we chose to take a calculated or spontaneous risk. Now it’s a two-way street. With variant cases popping up all over the world, we must protect the places we visit and the people we meet.
Here at Nomad Junkies, we care about being good citizens of the earth. We recognize that travel is a privilege, not a right. We know that our fellow wanderlusters are itching to get out and see the world again. And we want to provide the information that you need to make informed decisions and travel safely when the time is right.
That’s why Nomad Junkies has set up a team of researchers to closely monitor the openings and closings of borders specifically for Canadians. We have combed the depths of the internet for reliable sources allowing us to answer the following question: “Which countries are open to tourists from Canada?”

COVID-19 Travel Insurance
Travel is strongly discouraged at this time. If you do decide to venture outside of Canada, be sure to follow all hygiene protocols (like mask-wearing, hand-washing, and social distancing) and check the regulations before you go. Note that new restrictions can come into effect at any time.
Travelling responsibly also means travelling with travel insurance. Fortunately, SafetyWing travel insurance now offers coverage that includes COVID-19 (if the virus was not contracted before departure). For around $40 USD/month, it also covers unforeseen accidents and illnesses, in addition to travel delays, lost luggage, and natural disasters.
