Bahamas Welcomes Vaccinated Travellers (Without a COVID-19 Test)

This week, the Prime Minister of the Bahamas, Dr. Hubert Minnis, announced that fully vaccinated travellers would be able to visit the Bahamas while exempt from testing for COVID-19.

The easing measures will begin on May 1, 2021, allowing the tourism industry to restart. The Prime Minister’s announcement, reported by EW News, is also excellent news for the cruise industry, which has been hit hard by the pandemic. Officials expect the vaccination program to advance and the economy of the Bahamas to be revived as soon as the first tourists arrive.

The new rules apply to international travellers who have had their 2 doses of vaccine at least 2 weeks before the date of their stay in the Bahamas. Those who have not yet obtained their second dose will still need to present a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test to enter the country.

According to the CruiseHive site, several cruise companies have already announced their returns to the water, such as Royal Caribbean leaving the Bahamas on June 5, 2021. Crystal Cruises will start welcoming passengers to the same region in July.

Fully vaccinated travellers will be able to enjoy the Bahamas this summer without a negative COVID-19 test or mandatory quarantine.
